A watercolour measuring 6" x 11". Signed F. Ogilvie and dated 1902. Exhibited in 1903 in ‘The Submersion of Philae’ exhibition at the Modern Gallery, Bond Street, London (label verso).

 

About the Artist

Frederick F. Ogilvie (op.1902-1920) was a watercolour landscape painter who travelled in the Middle East. He exhibited at the Royal Academy (1), Royal Scottish Academy (2), and Walker’s Gallery, London (106).

 

The Subject

On the Desert Road to Shellal. Two figures with dromedaries in the Nubian Desert, a barren highway between the fertile lands of Egypt and Sudan.
